Experience faster return to full mobility
following total knee replacement surgery.
The Gap-Flex® System is a simple device combination designed to help patients
gain flexion and range of motion using gravity.
Lay the patient on their back in a flat position. Flex the hip on the leg with the surgically replaced knee to 90 degrees and place the Gap-Flex under the knee with the Gap-Flex logo facing away from the patient. The Gap-Flex should touch up against the back of the thigh, and the padded “T” bar should be directly under the back of the knee, allowing the knee to bend over the padding.
Use the Gap-Flex for 6 minutes per treatment. After each treatment, patients should flex and extend the knee several times, and stand and walk around for about 2 minutes.
For the second phase of therapy, place the patient’s leg in the Gap-Flex Extender for 10 minutes.
Repeat the therapy up to 6 times a day, peeling off foam layers as flexion returns.
